Dal Nonno
Dal Nonno (Grandpa’s Place) is our greatest surprise and transformation. Our first thought was that it would be a hunter’s cabin, clean and simple. It has blossomed into a comfy, tucked-away spot, in the shade of an oak grove. The final touch was adding a hot tub amongst the trees.
Dal Nonno’s living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom walls and ceilings are lined with stained wood. Nonno would not recognize the tiled floors throughout, nor the spacious bathroom with shower, hand-painted sink and handmade polished wood counter – not to mention the fluffy towels, robes and bath gel, too!
When you crawl from under your queen duvet in the morning, wondering why everyone does not line-dry their linens and sweeten their pillows with lavender, listen for the birds.
The kitchen is stocked with coffee/tea/sugars/creamer, juice, our much-requested homemade granola, cereals and milk. Homemade muffins or coffeecake await you. Cabinets are filled with dishes, glasses, flatware, and utensils. A full-sized refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, and large toaster oven complete the kitchen.
The living room can be your sanctuary on a rainy day, with its full-sized sofa and flat-screen TV and DVD player. A selection of DVDs is provided, along with popcorn and snacks. Or, grab a game, puzzle, or book from a basket.
An evening outside, grilling dinner on the stainless gas grill, dining al fresco beneath the twinkling sky, is just what you needed. Maybe tomorrow you will snooze in the hammock, or sit under the umbrella as you scribble away on your crossword puzzle.
As Nonno says, “so many things to do, so little time……..”
